HoroCalc ("we", "us") runs horocalc.com. Set out below is what we do with information and what you can choose. In one line: the birth date you enter is handled inside the browser and never leaves your device.

Which tool this covers

HoroCalc is a zodiac sign calculator: it finds your Western sun sign from your birth date and your Chinese zodiac animal from your birth year. In practice, it maps the birth date against the Western zodiac date ranges, which shift by a day or two at the cusp on some years, and derives the Chinese animal from the lunar year cycle rather than the calendar year alone. This page should be read with that tool in mind, because the limits described apply to what it computes.

In day-to-day use the tool works only from the birth date you enter, and it is usually opened for things like finding a sun sign for a cusp birthday. None of that reaches us, so none of it can be stored.

Your inputs

This site has no backend that receives what you type. The page reads your input to compute an answer, shows it to you, and forgets it — because nothing was ever sent anywhere in the first place. The arithmetic is identical regardless of who is looking at the screen.

How this policy changes

HoroCalc revises this page whenever the way it handles data changes; the "last updated" line at the top always shows the current version.

Automatic technical data

The hosting layer sees what any web server sees — client address, requested path, user agent, time — and that is the limit of it. None of those records contains the values you type into the zodiac sign calculator, because those never reach the server.

Advertising, cookies and your choices

The only cookie we set ourselves is a small preference flag for the consent notice. Advertising is served by third parties, and those partners may place their own cookies to tailor the ads you see. You can refuse or clear them in your browser without losing any functionality — the tool itself has no dependency on cookies.

What our statistics cover

We watch which of the HoroCalc tools get used, in aggregate, so that effort goes where it is useful. That is the extent of it — no individual profile, and no analytics event ever includes the values you entered.

Where your input goes (nowhere)

The values you enter are used only to render the answer on the page. They are not sent anywhere, not stored after you leave, and not linked to you in any way.

Retention and security

Retention is close to a non-question here, because almost nothing personal is retained. What you enter lives in the tab; the site itself is served over TLS and maintained as needed.

Under-13 users

The site is not designed for, or marketed to, children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Rights you can exercise

Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information held about you, or to object to certain processing. Because we do not store what you enter, there is usually no personal data to produce — but you are welcome to ask.
